Beavers Guilty of Tax Evasion
Cook County Commissioner William Beavers, the self-proclaimed “hog with big nuts,” now faces 12 years in prison after being found guilty Thursday afternoon of tax evasion. The 12 men and women of the jury reached their verdict quickly, deliberating for just a couple of hours following a morning of closing arguments and jury instructions. Beavers was indicted in February 2012 of failing to report thousands of dollars in income, taken from his campaign funds.
He also was accused of converting $68,000 in campaign money to beef up his aldermanic pension, and failing to properly account for thousands of dollars in county expense funds. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and his attorneys said prosecutors had twisted the evidence. In a booming voice during his closing arguments, attorney Sam Adam Jr told jurors that government attorneys “are trying to bamboozle you.”
The commissioner contended the campaign withdrawals were loans, and pointed to numerous instances where he had written checks back to the fund to replace the monies which had been removed. Defense attorneys said Beavers had paid back or could explain more than 86 percent of the campaign funds in question. Furthermore, Beavers had contended the government’s case against him was nothing more than retaliation for his refusal to wear a wire against fellow commissioners in a wider probe of Cook County government.

Jesse Jackson Jr., wife plead guilty to charges involving campaign funds

Washington (CNN) — With moist eyes and soft voices, former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife pleaded guilty to federal charges on Wednesday related to years of using campaign funds for personal expenses that included purchases of Michael Jackson memorabilia and a Rolex watch.
“Guilty, your honor,” Jackson responded to U.S. District Judge Robert Wilkins while dabbing his eyes with a handkerchief after he looked back at family members in the courtroom, including his father, civil rights activist Jesse Jackson.
Wilkins set sentencing for June 28, when Jackson could face up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
At a separate hearing later on Wednesday, former Chicago Alderman Sandra Stevens Jackson also pleaded guilty in a quavering voice to one count of filing false tax returns in connection with the misuse of her husband’s campaign funds. The charge involved a failure to declare more than $600,000 in income from 2005 to 2011. The total came from campaign funds.
Mr. Jackson’s wife, Sandi, also accompanied him, and later in the day she pleaded guilty to a charge that she filed false income tax statements during the time that Mr. Jackson was dipping into his campaign treasury. Prosecutors said they would seek to have her sentenced to 18 to 24 months.
She wept openly after returning to the defense table. Wilkins set her sentencing for July 1, when she could receive up to three years in prison and a maximum $250,000 fine.
(My comment: According to the federal prosecutor, she was NOT CHARGED WITH STEALING ANY MONEY, but is being charged with filing A false tax return, and will still go to jail).

Knowing how corrupt Illinois politics can be
I was wondering WHO the powers-that-be would appoint to occupy Jesse Jackson’s vacant Congressional seat. Of course, he or she would have to be the “right” kind of candidate, even possibly a white candidate OR one who is backed by powerful white politicians.
Which reminds me of the last Chicago mayoral election where nearly all the black and white candidates “mysteriously” dropped out of the race when Rahm Emannuel (President Obama’s former Chief of Staff) confidently announced his intentions to run for mayor of Chicago. He won the election.
And now State Senator Donne Trotter (story below) who had planned to run for Jackson’s seat will probably be disqualified from holding office anywhere in Illinois if convicted. My first thought upon hearing the news that State Senator Trotter tried to carry a LOADED gun on board a plane was:
maybe someone had threatened his life over his plans to run for the seat
Of course, this is speculation on my part and has no basis in any facts that I’m aware of. In either case, I would guess that State Senator Donne Trotter’s chances of occupying Mr. Jackson, Jr.’s seat in Congress are pretty much toast.
State Sen. Donne Trotter Arrested For Trying To Take Gun On Plane

CHICAGO (CBS) – An Illinois State Senator running to replace Jesse Jackson Jr. in Congress was arrested Wednesday morning after he allegedly tried to bring a gun onto a plane at O’Hare International Airport.
Sen. Donne Trotter (D-Chicago) was charged with a felony count of attempting to board an aircraft with a weapon, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office. The charge carries a penalty of 1 to 3 years in jail.
A police spokeswoman said Trotter is licensed to carry a weapon and has a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card. The TSA said the gun was loaded with seven rounds, but there was not a round in the gun’s chamber.
Trotter was being held at the Jefferson Park District lockup, police said. He was due to appear for a bond hearing Thursday, according to prosecutors. According to DNAInfo.com, Trotter told police he had just worked the late shift for Allpoints Security and Detective Inc., and didn’t realize the gun and ammunition were in his bag when he packed for a trip to Washington, D.C.
Trotter, 62, has been a state senator since 1993.
He announced last week that he would run in the special election in the 2nd Congressional District to replace Jesse Jackson Jr., who stepped down last month.
Trotter also ran for Congress in 2000, against Congressman Bobby Rush and future President Barack Obama, but came in third in the Democratic primary.

The super PAC started by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is putting its weight behind former state representative Robin Kelly in Illinois’s 2nd District special election, releasing a new ad that touts her stance on gun control and criticizes two of her opponents on the issue.
“Kelly will join President Obama to take on the NRA for effective background checks and to ban deadly assault weapons,” says the narrator of the ad. It’s the first time the organization, Independence USA PAC, has mentioned Kelly in a TV ad.

on TV ADS for a black female candidate running in Illinois for Jesse Jackson’s congressional seat?
It also appears that more and more black female FACES are being plastered as the POSTER GIRLS on the GUN CONTROL issue,
as either politicians OR as mothers who have lost their children to gun violence
while it is obvious that
The Gun Control issue provokes extreme hostility and resentment AND violence
among a great percentage of the increasingly angry and frustrated white population…

I believe black politicians are being targeted for one, or two, three, or possibly all four (or more) reasons:
- to eliminate as many black “voices” (and eye-witnesses) as possible from the elected bodies of Congress, state, and local governments so black people will have as little representation as possible (in preparation for what?)
- to destroy the black collective’s faith in elected black representatives (and in other black people) DESPITE THE FACT that the white elected representatives have an even WORSE track record regarding black issues.
- to PUT black faces on unpopular policies that will REDIRECT white angst in the direction of black people–an effective strategy that has resulted in a rise in violence against blacks in America AND a significant rise in (white) hate groups.
- to reduce black political power, leaving us with a handful of hand-picked (by powerful whites), highly-placed, highly-visible black “officials” (politicians) who will be so far removed from the lives and problems of everyday blacks that it amounts to NO BLACK REPRESENTATION at all.
In a state where BILLIONS of dollars exchange hands in private sweetheart deals,
and where BILLIONS have been stolen from Illinois pension plans
AND from the taxpayers in the city of Chicago
and downstate Illinois
effectively BANKRUPTING THE ILLINOIS TREASURY,
why are BLACK politicians — who are on average, “stealing” sums ranging from
$7,000 to under ONE MILLION DOLLARS —
the most likely ELECTED OFFICIALS to be indicted and convicted?
Once we understand that we are dominated by a system of white supremacy, and understand what it is, and how it works in ALL nine areas of people activity, we will ALSO understand:
1. Anything that happens over and over to the same people, in all places, and at all times cannot be an ACCIDENT or a COINCIDENCE.
2. Everything that happens to non-white people in a system of white supremacy is designed to SUPPORT and MAINTAIN the system of white supremacy.
3. NO non-white person is in charge within a system of white supremacy EVEN when it appears that a non-white person is in charge.
